I like the Aladin, and would like to see support continued, but through a real distributor, with real support. If there is no way to find a distributor who is willing to market your product, I suppose a shareware solution with less support would be acceptable as a last resort. I would like to see new Aladin developments, and if this is the only way, then It's OK I suppose. I am also owner of the product That's Multyformat (if you mean that product with your Mac to Aladin converter) also known in the USA as the Discovery Cartridge. Please keep in mind that a lot of people at least have had confidence in your products; please provide an upgrade path for them. I don't have experience with sending shareware fees; within Europe, I suppose it won't be a problem. Just use your bank account number. Greetings, Ryko Prins. --- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 4 Dec 89 11:10 GMT From: Jan Ameij Subject: Binary files with Uniterm v2.0e Hello. I have had lotsa problems transferring binary files with Uniterm kermit, from a VAXCluster. The solution seems to be...SET FILE TYPE FIXED on the VAX (Kermit-32>) and BINARY on the ST. Both binary -> dozens of errors... I don't know why it works, but it does. (This is probably a really silly one to any C wizards, but I'm only a BASIC wizard!) Why wont Sozobon, Lattice or any other C compiler I've tried compile the following, from K&R? main() $ char fred[] = "Some string constant"; This has been confusing me for a while, as K&R (surely correct!) would seem to indicate that this is indeed permissible! Your observations would be very much appreciated! Please reply to the net as the mailer I'm forced to use is _MEGA_ brain damaged!! :-( TMRF [A Rat with a very small brain] - Appologies to A.A. Message-ID: <574@nikhefh.nikhef.nl> Concerning the format of the form.dvi file: It is a great paper saver if you happen to use civilized paper sizes. The size is A5. Two A5 pages make one A4 sheet. (Napoleon thought this out: A0 has a surface of 1 m~2 and the ratio's are 1/sqrt(2)). With some experimenting you can probably also put two A5 pages on a letter size page. Now what is inclusive speech? Should I have written the manual in fortran? Could somebody send me some info on these. My mouse is still working fine. I am just getting tired of the noise complaints from the Hall Director :-). The most important item I want to know are these new switches closer to those of the Macs. ****************************************************************************** * - The people of the earth stood waiting * * Watching as the ships came one by one * * Setting fire to the sky as they landed * * Carrying to the world Children of the Sun * * Billy Thorpe * * * * -Scott F. Hello all, What does the write-protect bit in the file attribute byte mean?? As most of you know there is a bit in the attribute byte that indicates READ-ONLY status when it's set. This means that the file can't be written to, can't be renamed or deleted. BUT: I can change the time/date entry with Fgsdatim() (or whatever the GEMDOS function is called). Is this a bug or a feature?? Or is it necessary to enable the desktop to retain the time/date stamp while copying read-only files? I can see advantages (for "make" type programs), but also some disadvan- tages.
